“Glory to the Precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ”
Amos 8: 11
“Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord God, “That I will send a famine on the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord.
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen
We, the bride, the church should safeguard the salvation which the Lord has given till the end.
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, in the portion of the Bible that we meditated upon in the past days, we meditated that the Lord is safeguarding our soul, the bride, the church with horses of fire and chariots of fire so that wicked thoughts will not touch us.
Next what we are meditating upon is that 2 Kings 6: 24 – 33 And it happened after this that Ben-Hadad king of Syria gathered all his army and went up and besieged Samaria.
And there was a great famine in Samaria; and indeed they besieged it until a donkey’s head was sold for eighty shekels of silver, and one-fourth of a kab of dove droppings for five shekels of silver.
Then, as the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried out to him, saying, “Help, my lord, O king!”
And he said, “If the Lord does not help you, where can I find help for you? From the threshing floor or from the winepress?”
Then the king said to her, “What is troubling you?” And she answered, “This woman said to me, ‘Give your son, that we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow.’
So we boiled my son and ate him. And I said to her on the next day, ‘Give your son, that we may eat him’; but she has hidden her son.”
Now it happened, when the king heard the words of the woman, that he tore his clothes; and as he passed by on the wall, the people looked, and there underneath he had sackcloth on his body.
Then he said, “God do so to me and more also, if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat remains on him today!”
But Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. And the king sent a man ahead of him, but before the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, “Do you see how this son of a murderer has sent someone to take away my head? Look, when the messenger comes, shut the door, and hold him fast at the door. Is not the sound of his master’s feet behind him?”
And while he was still talking with them, there was the messenger, coming down to him; and then the king said, “Surely this calamity is from the Lord; why should I wait for the Lord any longer?”
In the above-mentioned verses, after the Syrians were sent away from Samaria the bands of Syrian raiders came no more into the land of Israel. And it happened after this that Ben-Hadad king of Syria gathered all his army and went up and besieged Samaria. And there was a great famine in Samaria; and indeed they besieged it until a donkey’s head was sold for eighty shekels of silver, and one-fourth of a kab of dove droppings for five shekels of silver. Then, as the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried out to him, saying, “Help, my lord, O king!” And he said, “If the Lord does not help you, where can I find help for you? From the threshing floor or from the winepress?” Then the king said to her, “What is troubling you?” And she answered, “This woman said to me, ‘Give your son, that we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow.’ So we boiled my son and ate him. And I said to her on the next day, ‘Give your son, that we may eat him’; but she has hidden her son.” Now it happened, when the king heard the words of the woman, that he tore his clothes; and as he passed by on the wall, the people looked, and there underneath he had sackcloth on his body. Then he said, “God do so to me and more also, if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat remains on him today!” But Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. And the king sent a man ahead of him, but before the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, “Do you see how this son of a murderer has sent someone to take away my head? Look, when the messenger comes, shut the door, and hold him fast at the door. Is not the sound of his master’s feet behind him?” And while he was still talking with them, there was the messenger, coming down to him; and then the king said, “Surely this calamity is from the Lord; why should I wait for the Lord any longer?”
My dear people, when we meditate upon the above-mentioned verses the reason for the deeds of Syria to come into our soul again is that because within us there are the deeds of Samaria, which are the Gentiles so within us wicked thoughts come a lot and stay within. In this manner, because the whole soul is filled with wicked thoughts and evil thinking the land is drying with famine. The food to be received in the hand is not received. But as the king was passing by on the wall a woman called the king and said that she caught her son and she gave him to be eaten by another woman also and that the other woman has hidden her son and when she said this, the king who heard this is tearing his garment. Then the people looked, and there underneath he had sackcloth on his body. What this signifies is that it is written as a pattern. But when she called the king and said help me then the king said that if the Lord does not help you, where can I find help for you? From the threshing floor or from the winepress? This means for the salvation of our soul this is being said. That is, famine in Israel means due to famine of not finding the word of God the soul that one has given birth to is being used by another and in this manner, they are satisfying their famine but everyone is not helping in us so the famine is becoming severe and knowing this our God because we are in the deeds of the Gentiles so the garment of salvation that we have received is being torn and we are wearing sackcloth and this thing is being revealed. Regarding this, in Lamentations 4: 1 – 10 How the gold has become dim! How changed the fine gold! The stones of the sanctuary are scattered at the head of every street.
The precious sons of Zion, Valuable as fine gold, how they are regarded as clay pots, the work of the hands of the potter!
Even the jackals present their breasts to nurse their young; But the daughter of my people is cruel, like ostriches in the wilderness.
The tongue of the infant clings to the roof of its mouth for thirst; The young children ask for bread, but no one breaks it for them.
Those who ate delicacies are desolate in the streets; Those who were brought up in scarlet embrace ash heaps.
The punishment of the iniquity of the daughter of my people is greater than the punishment of the sin of Sodom, which was overthrown in a moment, with no hand to help her!
Her Nazirites were brighter than snow and whiter than milk; They were more ruddy in body than rubies, like sapphire in their appearance.
Now their appearance is blacker than soot; They go unrecognized in the streets; Their skin clings to their bones, it has become as dry as wood.
Those slain by the sword are better off than those who die of hunger; For these pine away, stricken for lack of the fruits of the field.
The hands of the compassionate women have cooked their own children; They became food for them in the destruction of the daughter of my people.
The reason for this is not God but because of our wicked deeds a famine of the not getting the word of God is occurring and our nakedness is being revealed. Therefore we must wait for the Lord and again submit ourselves to receive the salvation that we have lost.
Let us pray. May the Lord bless you all abundantly.
