“Glory to the Precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ”
James 4: 10
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen
Our soul, the bride, the church should put on humbleness.
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, in the portion of the Bible that we meditated upon in the past days, we meditated that Our soul, the bride, the church should never be like the mule. That is, the head of Absalom who travelled on a mule was hanging on a terebinth tree because the path through which the mule went was a path of thick bough and we can read this. This was seen by a certain man, and he told this news to Joab.
Next what we are meditating upon is that 2 Samuel 18: 11 – 15 So Joab said to the man who told him, “You just saw him! And why did you not strike him there to the ground? I would have given you ten shekels of silver and a belt.”
But the man said to Joab, “Though I were to receive a thousand shekels of silver in my hand, I would not raise my hand against the king’s son. For in our hearing the king commanded you and Abishai and Ittai, saying, ‘Beware lest anyone touch the young man Absalom!’
Otherwise I would have dealt falsely against my own life. For there is nothing hidden from the king, and you yourself would have set yourself against me.”
Then Joab said, “I cannot linger with you.” And he took three spears in his hand and thrust them through Absalom’s heart, while he was still alive in the midst of the terebinth tree.
And ten young men who bore Joab’s armour surrounded Absalom and struck and killed him.
According to the above-mentioned verses, a man informed Joab the thing about Absalom but he did not come forward to kill him. The reason for this is that because Absalom was the son of King David so he feared that danger will come for his life, so he did not try to kill Absalom. So Joab took three spears in his hand and thrust them through Absalom’s heart, while he was still alive in the midst of the terebinth tree. And ten young men who bore Joab’s armour surrounded Absalom and struck and killed him.
My dear people, the Lord is showing this as a pattern that these verses are regarding our soul. The son of David, Absalom because he thought that he should make himself king so he worked against the throne of King David and made the Israelites to support him, and we can see this. Therefore David even though he thought that he should lead his son Absalom slowly but due to the evil deeds with which Absalom walked God made his mule walk through the thick boughs his head got stuck in the terebinth tree and hung there. When we look at this because he wanted to be the head, so God injured him with his head and by the hands of David’s armour men he is being killed. The facts regarding this are that our soul should not lift itself against the throne of Christ but be humble. If we will lift ourselves in this manner, then God will work against us as our enemy. But if we will humble ourselves then we will be lifted by God and will be as those who grow in grace. Therefore let each one of us submit ourselves to be humble.
Let us pray. May the Lord bless you all abundantly.
