“Glory to the Precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ”
Romans 12: 14, 15
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.
Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen
Within us, the bride, the church evil thoughts against our enemies should never arise.
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, in the portion of the Bible that we meditated upon in the past days, we meditated that we, the bride, the church should safeguard the shield of salvation given by the Lord carefully so that it is not being disrespected by the enemies.
Next what we are meditating upon is that 2 Samuel 2: 1 – 7 It happened after this that David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I go up to any of the cities of Judah?” And the Lord said to him, “Go up.” David said, “Where shall I go up?” And He said, “To Hebron.”
So David went up there, and his two wives also, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the widow of Nabal the Carmelite.
And David brought up the men who were with him, every man with his household. So they dwelt in the cities of Hebron.
Then the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, “The men of Jabesh Gilead were the ones who buried Saul.”
So David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh Gilead, and said to them, “You are blessed of the Lord, for you have shown this kindness to your lord, to Saul, and have buried him.
And now may the Lord show kindness and truth to you. I also will repay you this kindness, because you have done this thing.
Now therefore, let your hands be strengthened, and be valiant; for your master Saul is dead, and also the house of Judah has anointed me king over them.”
In the above-mentioned words of God, after David finished singing the lamentation for Saul, David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I go up to any of the cities of Judah?” And the Lord said to him, “Go up.” David said, “Where shall I go up?” And He said, “To Hebron.” So David went up there, and his two wives also, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the widow of Nabal the Carmelite. And David brought up the men who were with him, every man with his household. So they dwelt in the cities of Hebron. Then the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, “The men of Jabesh Gilead were the ones who buried Saul.” So David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh Gilead, and said to them, “You are blessed of the Lord, for you have shown this kindness to your lord, to Saul, and have buried him.
And now may the Lord show kindness and truth to you. I also will repay you this kindness because you have done this thing. Now therefore, let your hands be strengthened, and be valiant; for your master Saul is dead, and the house of Judah has anointed me king over them.”
My dear people, the above-mentioned facts is that those who are our enemies whatever wickedness they do we must not do any wickedness to them but fear God and be as those who follow him and live and this is the pattern that God is showing us. A thing that we must think a lot is that even though Saul troubled David a lot, the death of Saul was very painful to David. Also, we see that David blesses the men of Jabesh who buried the body of Saul. But many among us are those worship the Lord but expect that their enemies should be destroyed. Also, if anyone helps our enemies as soon as we hear about it, we hate them also. The Lord hates such kind of people. But David is blessing the people of Jabesh because they were of help to Saul. In this manner to show us the good way, he is showing David as a pattern and the evil thoughts that are in us, he is removing from us through Christ completely. Those with evil deeds are not redeemed by Christ and this is manifested as sure.
Regarding this, in Matthew 5: 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.
In the above-mentioned verse, it is mentioned regarding how we should behave with our enemies. In this manner, let us submit ourselves to change our thoughts as the thoughts of Christ.
Let us pray. May the Lord bless you all abundantly.
