“Glory to the Precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ”
1 Corinthians 2: 12
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen
We, the bride, the church should grow every day in the grace of God and overcome the enemy and safeguard holiness.
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, in the portion of the Bible that we meditated upon in the past days, we meditated that we, the bride, the church should do according to the will of the Lord, and we should grow in the fullness of faith.
Next what we are meditating upon is that 1 Samuel 29: 1 – 5 Then the Philistines gathered together all their armies at Aphek, and the Israelites encamped by a fountain which is in Jezreel.
And the lords of the Philistines passed in review by hundreds and by thousands, but David and his men passed in review at the rear with Achish.
Then the princes of the Philistines said, “What are these Hebrews doing here?” And Achish said to the princes of the Philistines, “Is this not David, the servant of Saul king of Israel, who has been with me these days, or these years? And to this day I have found no fault in him since he defected to me.”
But the princes of the Philistines were angry with him; so the princes of the Philistines said to him, “Make this fellow return, that he may go back to the place which you have appointed for him, and do not let him go down with us to battle, lest in the battle he become our adversary. For with what could he reconcile himself to his master, if not with the heads of these men?
Is this not David, of whom they sang to one another in dances, saying: ‘Saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands’?”
In the above-mentioned verses, the Philistines gathered together all their armies at Aphek to fight against the Israelites, and the Israelites encamped by a fountain which is in Jezreel. And to this day I have found no fault in him since he defected to me.” But the princes of the Philistines were angry with him; so the princes of the Philistines said to him, “Make this fellow return, that he may go back to the place which you have appointed for him, and do not let him go down with us to battle, lest in the battle he become our adversary. For with what could he reconcile himself to his master, if not with the heads of these men? Is this not David, of whom they sang to one another in dances, saying: ‘Saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands’?”
Then Achish called David and said to him 1 Samuel 29: 6, 7 Then Achish called David and said to him, “Surely, as the Lord lives, you have been upright, and your going out and your coming in with me in the army is good in my sight. For to this day I have not found evil in you since the day of your coming to me. Nevertheless the lords do not favor you.
Therefore return now, and go in peace, that you may not displease the lords of the Philistines.”
By telling the above-mentioned words, Achish is telling David to return back. For that the thing that David is asking Achish in 1 Samuel 29: 8 So David said to Achish, “But what have I done? And to this day what have you found in your servant as long as I have been with you, that I may not go and fight against the enemies of my lord the king?” After David spoke in this manner, Achish replied to David in 1 Samuel 29: 9, 10 Then Achish answered and said to David, “I know that you are as good in my sight as an angel of God; nevertheless the princes of the Philistines have said, ‘He shall not go up with us to the battle.’
Now therefore, rise early in the morning with your master’s servants who have come with you. And as soon as you are up early in the morning and have light, depart.”
David, who heard these words took his men and rose early to depart in the morning, to return to the land of the Philistines. And the Philistines went up to Jezreel.
My dear people, the fact in the above-mentioned words is that for us to attain spiritual growth our thoughts should be good and clean and should be concerning the Lord. But the thoughts of the Philistines are wicked and things concerning the world. That is, by destroying the worldly deeds of the flesh only we can put on the spiritual things. Therefore, these two will fight greatly in our soul. If this is present in this manner by the grace of Christ only, we can overcome the world. Also, our Lord Jesus is overcoming the world. When we overcome the world in this manner, we are overcoming and rising up against these two – the hell and death. These can be overcome only by water baptism.
Regarding this, John 16: 33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
Also, when we meditate when the Philistines saw that David and his men went to war along with Achish, the princes of the Philistines were not willing to accept him, and they told Achish to send him back. The reason for that is David is a Hebrew. Therefore they are thinking that if he stands for the Israelites against the Philistines, then the Philistines will fall down, and they are refusing to accept him. This is because he has received the anointing of the Spirit of the Lord. Before also, he had destroyed the Philistines and knowing this they were not willing to stand along with him. This is because what Achish did not know was in the thoughts of the Philistines.
In this manner, the deeds of the Philistines in our soul will arise in many ways. They will think that what they are doing is only correct and will satisfy themselves in this manner. Such people will not give place for the grace of God in their soul. This is because by the grace of God the enemy will be destroyed.
Therefore, my dear people if we lose the grace of God we cannot destroy the enemy. Therefore let us all submit ourselves to receive the grace of God and overcome the enemies.
Let us pray. May the Lord bless you all abundantly.
