“Glory to the Precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ”
Proverbs 11: 17
The merciful man does good for his own soul, but he who is cruel troubles his own flesh.
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen
If we, the bride, the church wants to overcome the enemies, we should be as those who have received the grace of Christ.
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, in the portion of the Bible that we meditated upon in the past days, we meditated that we, the bride, the church should never think evil any day against those who are anointed by the Lord.
Next what we are meditating upon is that 1 Samuel 27: 1 – 12 And David said in his heart, “Now I shall perish someday by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape to the land of the Philistines; and Saul will despair of me, to seek me anymore in any part of Israel. So I shall escape out of his hand.”
Then David arose and went over with the six hundred men who were with him to Achish the son of Maoch, king of Gath.
So David dwelt with Achish at Gath, he and his men, each man with his household, and David with his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the Carmelitess, Nabal’s widow.
And it was told Saul that David had fled to Gath; so he sought him no more.
Then David said to Achish, “If I have now found favor in your eyes, let them give me a place in some town in the country, that I may dwell there. For why should your servant dwell in the royal city with you?”
So Achish gave him Ziklag that day. Therefore Ziklag has belonged to the kings of Judah to this day.
Now the time that David dwelt in the country of the Philistines was one full year and four months.
And David and his men went up and raided the Geshurites, the Girzites, and the Amalekites. For those nations were the inhabitants of the land from of old, as you go to Shur, even as far as the land of Egypt.
Whenever David attacked the land, he left neither man nor woman alive, but took away the sheep, the oxen, the donkeys, the camels, and the apparel, and returned and came to Achish.
Then Achish would say, “Where have you made a raid today?” And David would say, “Against the southern area of Judah, or against the southern area of the Jerahmeelites, or against the southern area of the Kenites.”
David would save neither man nor woman alive, to bring news to Gath, saying, “Lest they should inform on us, saying, ‘Thus David did.’” And thus was his behavior all the time he dwelt in the country of the Philistines.
So Achish believed David, saying, “He has made his people Israel utterly abhor him; therefore he will be my servant forever.”
What we are meditating in the above-mentioned verses is that, what David is thinking in his mind is that “Now I shall perish someday by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape to the land of the Philistines; and Saul will despair of me, to seek me anymore in any part of Israel. So I shall escape out of his hand.” And he is thinking in this manner. For why should your servant dwell in the royal city with you?” So Achish gave him Ziklag that day. So Achish believed David, saying, “He has made his people Israel utterly abhor him; therefore he will be my servant forever.”
My dear people, the fact regarding the above-mentioned words is that though Saul reconciled twice with David, David did not have belief on him. The reason for this is that because Saul lost the grace that was with him within him the love of God could not be complete he is not having patience. Not only that because the evil spirit was within him, even though Saul spoke like he had repented David did not believe him. In this manner only many among us will satisfy themselves saying they have repented but such people will always find fault with others and will be jealous about those who have been anointed by the Lord and will be envious. In this manner, none of us should be like Saul but should be in the fullness of the love of God. Because the deeds of Saul were evil, David did not believe him and went to the land of the Philistines with his wives and his men and we can see this. But we can think that he backslid and went but not like that he was with understanding and walked accordingly with King Achish. He went to the land of Philistines and there also he did according to the will of the Lord. In the same way, we also if we will be with understanding in the grace of Christ not only can we escape from the enemy, but we can be as those who do the will of the Lord and God will be glorified through us in the land. Let us submit ourselves to live in this manner.
Let us pray. May the Lord bless you all abundantly.
