“Glory to the Precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ”
Psalms 16: 4
Their sorrows shall be multiplied who hasten after another god; Their drink offerings of blood I will not offer, nor take up their names on my lips.
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen
We, the bride, the church should be anointed by Christ and should destroy the foreign deeds.
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, in the portion of the Bible that we meditated upon in the past days, we meditated that we, the bride, the church should leave our old sinful habits and be built in the love of Christ and be as those united with Him.
Next what we are meditating upon is that 1 Samuel 25: 32 – 38 Then David said to Abigail: “Blessed is the Lord God of Israel, who sent you this day to meet me!
And blessed is your advice and blessed are you, because you have kept me this day from coming to bloodshed and from avenging myself with my own hand.
For indeed, as the Lord God of Israel lives, who has kept me back from hurting you, unless you had hurried and come to meet me, surely by morning light no males would have been left to Nabal!”
So David received from her hand what she had brought him, and said to her, “Go up in peace to your house. See, I have heeded your voice and respected your person.”
Now Abigail went to Nabal, and there he was, holding a feast in his house, like the feast of a king. And Nabal’s heart was merry within him, for he was very drunk; therefore she told him nothing, little or much, until morning light.
So it was, in the morning, when the wine had gone from Nabal, and his wife had told him these things, that his heart died within him, and he became like a stone.
Then it happened, after about ten days, that the Lord struck Nabal, and he died.
What is written in the above-mentioned verses is that after the wife of Nabal, Abigail blessed David, then David said to Abigail: “Blessed is the Lord God of Israel, who sent you this day to meet me! And blessed is your advice and blessed are you, because you have kept me this day from coming to bloodshed and from avenging myself with my own hand. What this is showing as a pattern is that we, the bride, the church should be as those who bless the church of Christ. But David regarding Nabal told Abigail that For indeed, as the Lord God of Israel lives, who has kept me back from hurting you, unless you had hurried and come to meet me, surely by morning light no males would have been left to Nabal!” So David received from her hand what she had brought him, and said to her, “Go up in peace to your house. See, I have heeded your voice and respected your person.” Now Abigail went to Nabal, and there he was, holding a feast in his house, like the feast of a king.
When David heard that Nabal had died, the words that he said was 1 Samuel 25: 39 So when David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, “Blessed be the Lord, who has pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal and has kept His servant from evil! For the Lord has returned the wickedness of Nabal on his own head.” And David sent and proposed to Abigail, to take her as his wife.
In the above-mentioned words, he is glorifying God that Blessed be the Lord who kept him from doing evil. Also, what he said is that for the Lord has returned the wickedness of Nabal on his own head. And David sent and proposed to Abigail, to take her as his wife. When the servants of David had come to Abigail at Carmel, they spoke to her saying, “David sent us to you, to ask you to become his wife.” She did not refuse and in 1 Samuel 25: 41 – 44 Then she arose, bowed her face to the earth, and said, “Here is your maidservant, a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord.”
So Abigail rose in haste and rode on a donkey, attended by five of her maidens; and she followed the messengers of David, and became his wife.
David also took Ahinoam of Jezreel, and so both of them were his wives.
But Saul had given Michal his daughter, David’s wife, to Palti the son of Laish, who was from Gallim.
My dear people, in David marrying Abigail God is showing us clearly that he is destroying the deeds of the gods of the foreign husbands and those who are anointed by the Spirit of the Lord, he separates them and unites the bride with Christ, the bridegroom. Therefore, we must be anointed by the Spirit of Christ and along with our bridegroom, Christ we must be united as the bride, the church and let us submit ourselves for this.
Let us pray. May the Lord bless you all abundantly.
