“Glory to the Precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ”

Psalms 97: 10

You who love the Lord, hate evil! He preserves the souls of His saints; He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen

In our soul, the bride, the church deeds of vengeance should not arise and we must safeguard ourselves as a soul without guile with holiness.

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, in the portion of the Bible that we meditated upon in the past days, we meditated that we, the bride, the church should always walk with understanding and with the fullness of the Holy Spirit.

Next what we are meditating upon is that 1 Samuel 18: 17 - 21 Then Saul said to David, “Here is my older daughter Merab; I will give her to you as a wife. Only be valiant for me, and fight the Lord’s battles.” For Saul thought, “Let my hand not be against him, but let the hand of the Philistines be against him.”

So David said to Saul, “Who am I, and what is my life or my father’s family in Israel, that I should be son-in-law to the king?”

But it happened at the time when Merab, Saul’s daughter, should have been given to David, that she was given to Adriel the Meholathite as a wife.

Now Michal, Saul’s daughter, loved David. And they told Saul, and the thing pleased him.

So Saul said, “I will give her to him, that she may be a snare to him, and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him.” Therefore Saul said to David a second time, “You shall be my son-in-law today.”

When we meditate upon what is mentioned above, because David went out and came in before the people of Israel and Judah what Saul thought is that “Let my hand not be against him but let the hand of the Philistines be against him.” Then Saul said to David, “Here is my older daughter Merab; I will give her to you as a wife. Only be valiant for me, and fight the Lord’s battles.” So David said to Saul, “Who am I, and what is my life or my father’s family in Israel, that I should be son-in-law to the king?” But it happened at the time when Merab, Saul’s daughter, should have been given to David, that she was given to Adriel the Meholathite as a wife.

Also, Saul commanded his servants what they must tell David and sent them in 1 Samuel 18: 22 – 30 And Saul commanded his servants, “Communicate with David secretly, and say, ‘Look, the king has delight in you, and all his servants love you. Now therefore, become the king’s son-in-law.’”

So Saul’s servants spoke those words in the hearing of David. And David said, “Does it seem to you a light thing to be a king’s son-in-law, seeing I am a poor and lightly esteemed man?”

And the servants of Saul told him, saying, “In this manner David spoke.”

Then Saul said, “Thus you shall say to David: ‘The king does not desire any dowry but one hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to take vengeance on the king’s enemies.’” But Saul thought to make David fall by the hand of the Philistines.

So when his servants told David these words, it pleased David well to become the king’s son-in-law. Now the days had not expired;

therefore David arose and went, he and his men, and killed two hundred men of the Philistines. And David brought their foreskins, and they gave them in full count to the king, that he might become the king’s son-in-law. Then Saul gave him Michal his daughter as a wife.

Thus Saul saw and knew that the Lord was with David, and that Michal, Saul’s daughter, loved him;

and Saul was still more afraid of David. So Saul became David’s enemy continually.

Then the princes of the Philistines went out to war. And so it was, whenever they went out, that David behaved more wisely than all the servants of Saul, so that his name became highly esteemed.

David, who heard the above-mentioned words said that “Does it seem to you a light thing to be a king’s son-in-law, seeing I am a poor and lightly esteemed man?” And the servants of Saul told him, saying, “In this manner David spoke.” Then Saul said, “Thus you shall say to David: ‘The king does not desire any dowry but one hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to take vengeance on the king’s enemies.’” But Saul thought to make David fall by the hand of the Philistines. So when his servants told David these words, it pleased David well to become the king’s son-in-law. Now the days had not expired; therefore David arose and went, he and his men, and killed two hundred men of the Philistines. And David brought their foreskins, and they gave them in full count to the king, that he might become the king’s son-in-law. Then Saul gave him Michal his daughter as a wife. Thus Saul saw and knew that the Lord was with David, and that Michal, Saul’s daughter, loved him;  and Saul was still more afraid of David. So Saul became David’s enemy continually. Then the princes of the Philistines went out to war. And so it was, whenever they went out, that David behaved more wisely than all the servants of Saul, so that his name became highly esteemed.

My dear people, when we meditate upon these words Saul who had the distressing spirit acted like a good person to David but kept vengeance in his soul and waited to see when David will be killed and we can see this. In this manner, among those who are redeemed by the Lord the souls of those who have not received the good spirit will think like Saul and God is showing that as a pattern. But David, with the spirit of the Lord is a man without any guile. Also, we can read that Saul is trying to make his relative David be killed. In this manner only many among us come as close relatives and will cheat us and to be careful regarding this God is showing us this as a pattern. All these are the deeds of the flesh that rise in our soul. Therefore, some people all the days of their life due to the deeds of the flesh will think the people of God as enemies and will perish. Therefore, in our soul so that evil thoughts do not arise, we who have been redeemed by Christ should never become under the bondage of the flesh. In this manner, let us submit ourselves to walk according to the Spirit.

Let us pray. May the Lord bless you all abundantly.
