“Glory to the Precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ”
Romans 14: 20 Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All things indeed are pure, but it is evil for the man who eats with offense.
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen
Hallelujah
We, the bride, the church should be careful in eating food provisions.
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, in the portion of the Bible that we meditated upon in the past days, we meditated that when we, the bride, the church take a covenant with God, we should not be partakers of the deeds of the devil, but we must submit ourselves carefully and we meditated regarding this with patterns.
Next, what we are meditating is that Joshua 9: 12 – 15 This bread of ours we took hot for our provision from our houses on the day we departed to come to you. But now look, it is dry and mouldy.
And these wineskins which we filled were new, and see, they are torn; and these our garments and our sandals have become old because of the very long journey.”
Then the men of Israel took some of their provisions; but they did not ask counsel of the Lord.
So Joshua made peace with them, and made a covenant with them to let them live; and the rulers of the congregation swore to them.
When we meditate upon the above-mentioned verses, knowing the deeds of God and to make a covenant with Israel, the church the kings of the Gentiles who came from a far-off country when we told the Israelites to make a covenant with them, Israel told said to the Hivites, “Perhaps you dwell among us; so how can we make a covenant with you?” But they said to Joshua, “We are your servants.”And Joshua said to them, “Who are you, and where do you come from?”
So they said to him: because of the name of the Lord your God; for we have heard of His fame, and all that He did in Egypt, and all that He did to the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan—to Sihon king of Heshbon, and Og king of Bashan, who was at Ashtaroth. Therefore our elders and all the inhabitants of our country spoke to us, saying, Take provisions with you for the journey, and go to meet them, and say to them, “We are your servants; now therefore, make a covenant with us.” This bread of ours we took hot for our provision from our houses on the day we departed to come to you. But now look, it is dry and mouldy. And these wineskins which we filled were new, and see, they are torn; and these our garments and our sandals have become old because of the very long journey.” Then the men of Israel took some of their provisions; but they did not ask counsel of the Lord. So Joshua made peace with them and made a covenant with them to let them live; and the rulers of the congregation swore to them.
My dear people, when we meditate upon the above-mentioned words what we come to know is that when we make a covenant with God with provisions, the thing that we must be careful about is what God told us in Proverbs 23: 1 – 7 When you sit down to eat with a ruler, consider carefully what is before you;
And put a knife to your throat if you are a man given to appetite.
Do not desire his delicacies, for they are deceptive food.
Do not overwork to be rich; because of your own understanding, cease!
Will you set your eyes on that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings; They fly away like an eagle toward heaven.
Do not eat the bread of a miser, nor desire his delicacies;
For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, but his heart is not with you.
When we meditate upon the above-mentioned verses, we must be careful in eating provisions. We must not take from all and eat and that is the law that God has kept for us. The reason is that those who have put on Christ means those who have received the new covenant. Those kinds of people are Israelites. They must always be in fellowship with God. To break this only the enemy will enter cunningly and for this the above-mentioned is a pattern.
In this manner, our old traditional deeds of the Gentiles come within us and will deceive us and for this God is using Joshua and is showing us as a pattern. This is because whatever they (Gentiles) brought everything was old. The Israelites took those things and broke the law of God. Joshua made a covenant with them. Later, they realized that he and the Israelites were deceived.
Therefore, my dear people so that we are not deceived by the Gentiles let us carefully analyse and know and let us submit ourselves to the Lord daily.
Let us pray. May the Lord bless you all abundantly.
