Becoming the Bride – which is the church

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, in the portion that we read in the past few days God showed us as a pattern how God’s church must be.

When Abraham’s servant asked Rebekah Tell me, please, is there room in your father’s house for us to lodge?” She said to him, “We have both straw and feed enough, and room to lodge.”

Then the man bowed down his head and worshiped the Lord.

Genesis 24: 27 And he said, “Blessed be the Lord God of my master Abraham, who has not forsaken His mercy and His truth toward my master. As for me, being on the way, the Lord led me to the house of my master’s brethren.”

So, the young woman ran and told her mother’s household these things.

Then her brother ran and went near the well. At that time, he saw the nose ring, and the bracelets on his sister’s wrists.

When Rebekah told her brother the things that the man had said he came there near the well. And there the man stood at the well.

And he said, “Come in, O blessed of the Lord! Why do you stand outside? For I have prepared the house, and a place for the camels.”

From this we understand that, first God calls one person from a house. Then when they are filled with the Holy Spirit and follow God’s word and when they are filled with mercy and truth due to the beauty that they have received all the people in the house will accept that church and will be able to taste Christ’s love.

Then Laban unloaded the camels, and provided straw and feed for the camels, and water to wash his feet and the feet of the men who were with him.

Genesis 24: 33 Food was set before him to eat, but he said, “I will not eat until I have told about my errand.” And he said, “Speak on.”

From this we understand that Laban is accepting all the people from the church into his house. Not only that, God is giving a change in the lives of everyone in her house.

Then Abraham’s servant tells everything that happened from the beginning in detail. He tells what Abraham told him when he sent him, what he prayed to God, the answer that God gave him, how Rebekah came to the well, how she gave him and the camels water and how she explained clearly whose daughter she was and how he gave her the nose ring and bracelets.

After he told clearly everything including how he gave thanks to the Lord he said in Genesis 24: 49 Now if you will deal kindly and truly with my master, tell me. And if not, tell me, that I may turn to the right hand or to the left.”

Genesis 24: 50 Then Laban and Bethuel answered and said, “The thing comes from the Lord; we cannot speak to you either bad or good.

Genesis 24: 51 Here is Rebekah before you; take her and go, and let her be your master’s son’s wife, as the Lord has spoken.”

When Abraham’s servant heard their words, that he worshiped the Lord, bowing himself to the earth. Then the servant brought out jewelry of silver, jewelry of gold, and clothing, and gave them to Rebekah. He also gave precious things to her brother and to her mother.

From this we understand that when God makes us his wife – the bride the church he decorates us with the beauty of holiness, with God’s word, with God’s mercy and God’s glory. Not only that he fills all our household with the finest wheat. That is what we read that Joshua says as for me and my house we will serve the Lord.

(But in many houses, even though one person accepts God even after many years others do not know about God. We must know that the reason for this is the beauty of salvation is not in them.)

And Abraham’s servant and the men who were with him ate and drank and stayed all night. Then they arose in the morning, and he said, “Send me away to my master.” But her brother and her mother said, “Let the young woman stay with us for at least ten days, And Abraham’s servant said to them, “Do not hinder me, since the Lord has prospered my way; send me away so that I may go to my master.”

So, the people in her house called and asked her and she said, “I will go.”

Genesis 24:59, 60 So they sent away Rebekah their sister and her nurse, and Abraham’s servant and his men.

And they blessed Rebekah and said to her “Our sister, may you become the mother of thousands of ten thousands; And may your descendants possess The gates of those who hate them.”

So the servant took Rebekah and departed. While they were going, Isaac was coming from the way of a well called Beer Lahai Roi.

Genesis 24: 63 And Isaac went out to meditate in the field in the evening; and he lifted his eyes and looked, and there, the camels were coming. Then Rebekah lifted her eyes, and she saw Isaac.

Then she said to the servant, “Who is this man walking in the field to meet us?” and the servant tells her. So, she dismounted from the camel and covered herself with a veil.

Then the servant told Isaac all the things that he had done. Then Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah’s tent; and he took Rebekah and she became his wife, and he loved her.

That is why, in Galatians 4: 28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are children of promise. In this manner, God shows Isaac and Rebekah as a pattern to us.

Galatians 3: 29 And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

In this manner, our Lord is making us as the bride the church through Christ and is accepting us in his eternal kingdom.

Let us pray. May the Lord bless you all.
