My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, we can read that Abraham is sending his servant to get a wife for his son Isaac. That servant is praying by mentioning some signs. As soon as he finishes praying like that, Rebekah, came out with her pitcher on her shoulder. That girl was the daughter of Bethuel. We can see that the servant went to the land of Abraham. She belonged to the family of Abraham.

Genesis 24: 16 – 19 Now the young woman was very beautiful to behold, a virgin; no man had known her. And she went down to the well, filled her pitcher, and came up.

And the servant ran to meet her and said, “Please let me drink a little water from your pitcher.”

So, she said, “Drink, my lord.” Then she quickly let her pitcher down to her hand and gave him a drink.

And when she had finished giving him a drink, she said, “I will draw water for your camels also, until they have finished drinking.”

Then she quickly emptied her pitcher into the trough, ran back to the well to draw water, and drew for all his camels. And the man, wondering at her, remained silent so as to know whether the Lord had made his journey prosperous or not.

So it was, when the camels had finished drinking, that the man took a nose ring and bracelets for her wrists and said, “Whose daughter are you? Tell me, please, is there room in your father’s house for us to lodge?” For that she replies that Yes, there is.

Genesis 24: 26 – Then the man bowed down his head and worshiped the Lord.

Genesis 24: 27 - And he said, “Blessed be the Lord God of my master Abraham, who has not forsaken His mercy and His truth toward my master. As for me, being on the way, the Lord led me to the house of my master’s brethren.”

Dear people of God who are reading and meditating on this, we must understand that this is not for us to live by sticking to the spirit of the world. Because Abraham did not offer sacrifice in the right way to God, great darkness fell on him. As God told him that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, for four hundred years and afterwards they shall come back, Joseph was sold as captive and is taken to Egypt. The descendants of Jacob were seventy. After all that generation had died, the children of Israel increased abundantly, multiplied and grew exceedingly mighty; and the land was filled with them.

If we see this briefly, this is because in Egypt the Israelites were afflicted greatly. So, the Israelites cried out to the Lord. God heard their cry and to rescue Israel, his church and bring them back he sent Moses and Aaron.

God did many miracles and signs and sent plagues in the middle of the Egyptians and delivered and brought his people the Israelites out of Egypt. The Spiritual rock who came with them was Christ.

When they were not able to get water to drink during their journey, God told Moses to beat with the rod in his hand. When he beat the rock with that rod, a lot of water came from it. We read that all the people and animals drank sufficiently.

After that in their journey, when they came to the Wilderness of Zin and stayed at Kadesh, Miriam died and was buried there.

In that place there was no water, so the people argued with Moses. So Moses fell on his face before the Lord. And the glory of the Lord appeared to them. And God told Moses –

Numbers 20: 8 “Take the rod; you and your brother Aaron gather the congregation together. Speak to the rock before their eyes, and it will yield its water; thus, you shall bring water for them out of the rock, and give drink to the congregation and their animals.”

So, Moses took the rod from before the Lord as He commanded him and said Hear now, you rebels! And lifted his hand and struck the rock twice with his rod; and water came out abundantly, and the congregation and their animals drank.

Immediately God got angry with Moses and Aaron. Because in Numbers 20: 12 - Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not believe Me, to hallow Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.”

The reason for this is Moses did what God did not tell him. In front of the church – children of Israel He did not make God holy. Because he did what God did not say we see that God is telling him you did not believe me.

Also, God shows as a pattern that Rock signifies Christ. God is submitting himself to be beaten for us only once. We read that from the Lord Jesus Christ who submitted himself like that – blood and water flow out.  God purchases the church by his blood and Jesus blood removes and cleanses us from all our sins.  The Rock which is Christ and the water that comes from the Rock is the Living water which is God’s word which is given to us by God through Christ. When this word makes us holy the Holy Spirit makes us a bride and when it is manifested in our soul we change from bride to a church. When we change in this manner God fills us with his grace.

After being saved once, we must never be like those who beat Christ the second time. Once we are saved, we must be filled with the Holy Spirit and we must speak to God.

1 Corinthians 14: 2 For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.

When we meditate on these verses, Rebekah is at the well and we see in continuation that God is opening the Rock through Moses and bringing out water and Jesus Christ explains to the lady in Samaria about the living water.

Let us pray. May the Lord bless you all.
