My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, the name that Terah put for Abraham is Abram. We see that only after Abram separated from Lot, God blesses him.

This is because what was in Lot’s soul was worldly desire. That is why he chose the land that was good to see. But Abram was not like that. He possessed the land of Canaan. Those who do things which are pleasing to the eyes and life are like Lot who chose the sinful cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. If the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah are filled with sin, God is ready to destroy these cities. We can see that these cities are destroyed by fire. God never desires for us to be like Sodom and Gomorrah. Inside the city of Sodom of Gomorrah Lot and his family stayed. When we read the word of God, God wanted to protect and save Lot and his family from destruction. It has been written that Lot was righteous. Because he was righteous, we see that God is sending two angels to Lot. But the city that Lot went to was not right. What we understand from this is – it is written that Lot’s heart was a righteous heart. He was a Sodom and Gomorrah city because he did not submit himself completely, we see that God opened a way to protect and save him from this destruction. In the same way, we should also leave from the sinful lusts that we are unknowingly in. In order for us to depend on God and live, though God has warned us, spoke to us, rebuked us, punished us, given us horrible diseases, plagues, sorrow, pestilences he wants to save and deliver us so he gave his only begotten Son but still we fail to understand. Those who understand God is delivering, saving and protecting us from everything and making us worthy for the heavenly kingdom. But many of us are falling down on the way. In our race of salvation, we must run by protecting our holiness. But Lot after God delivered him for the city of destruction and brought him outside, we see that he is falling down on the way. In this way many people are remaining as city of Sodom and Gomorrah and dying in eternal destruction.

2 Peter 2: 6 - and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly;

and delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked

(for that righteous man, dwelling among them, tormented his righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds)—

then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment,

and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries,

whereas angels, who are greater in power and might, do not bring a reviling accusation against them before the Lord.

When God warned Lot and was hurrying him in Genesis 19: 16 - And while he lingered, the men took hold of his hand, his wife’s hand, and the hands of his two daughters, the Lord being merciful to him, and they brought him out and set him outside the city. So it came to pass, when they had brought them outside, that he said, “Escape for your life! Do not look behind you nor stay anywhere in the plain. Escape to the mountains, lest you be destroyed.” But again Lot said to them, “Please, no, my lords!

Genesis 19:19 - Indeed now, your servant has found favor in your sight, and you have increased your mercy which you have shown me by saving my life; but I cannot escape to the mountains, lest some evil overtake me and I die.

He asked God for a small city saying it is near. God favoured him in what he asked as well.

Genesis 19: 22 – 26 Hurry, escape there. For I cannot do anything until you arrive there.” Therefore, the name of the city was called Zoar.

The sun had risen upon the earth when Lot entered Zoar.

Then the Lord rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah, from the Lord out of the heavens.

So He overthrew those cities, all the plain, all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground.

But his wife looked back behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

Genesis 19:30 - Then Lot went up out of Zoar and dwelt in the mountains, and his two daughters were with him; for he was afraid to dwell in Zoar. And he and his two daughters dwelt in a cave.

After that they caused destruction upon themselves. Even though God delivered them from destruction, due to the fleshly lusts within them the generations of Moab and Ammon were born.

In this manner, Lot who was a righteous man falls into destruction. Dear people of God who are reading this, this is time to analyze ourselves. God has chosen to possess the kingdom which does not fail. Let us become holy.

Let us submit ourselves and pray. May the Lord bless you all.
