“Glory to the Precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ”

Amos 5: 14, 15  Seek good and not evil, That you may live; So the Lord God of hosts will be with you, As you have spoken.

Hate evil, love good; Establish justice in the gate. It may be that the Lord God of hosts Will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

Hallelujah

The Protection of our soul

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, yesterday we meditated few things regarding the redemption of our soul which is done through Christ. We are able to see that God is sending Joseph to Egypt. Joseph, who was sold to Egypt in this manner by his brothers was made by Potiphar as the overseer of his house and his servant, and all that he had in the house he put under his authority. Thus he left all that he had in Joseph’s hand, and he did not know what he had except for the bread which he ate.

The next thing that we should know is that in our lives, when we are living in this world, God gives us a redemption of our soul through his blood from the evil deeds of this world. But we must protect it carefully. This is because God is showing us Joseph as a pattern. Now Joseph was handsome in form and appearance.

After some time, his master's wife cast longing eyes on Joseph and decides to deceive him.

But he did not agree to what his master's wife said and he says - “Look, my master does not know what is with me in the house, and he has committed all that he has to my hand.

Genesis 39: 9 There is no one greater in this house than I, nor has he kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?”

But it happened that when Joseph went into the house to do some work, she pulled him. But when she saw that he left his garment and fled and ran outside. And so it was, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand and fled outside, that she called the men of her house and we see in God's word that she blames him.

Genesis 39: 16, 17 So she kept his garment with her until his master came home.

Then she spoke to him with words like these, saying, “The Hebrew servant whom you brought to us came in to me to mock me;

Genesis 39: 18 so it happened, as I lifted my voice and cried out, that he left his garment with me and fled outside.”Joseph's master listened to his wife's words and put him into the prison, a place where the prisoners were confined. But because Joseph was truthful -

Genesis 39: 21  But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and He gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.

From this what we understand is that, after God has lifted us up and redeemed us from the pit of hell the harlot will work against our soul.

In Proverbs 7: 10 - 23 And there a woman met him, With the attire of a harlot, and a crafty heart.

She was loud and rebellious, Her feet would not stay at home. At times she was outside, at times in the open square, Lurking at every corner.

So she caught him and kissed him; With an impudent face she said to him: “I have peace offerings with me; Today I have paid my vows.

So I came out to meet you, Diligently to seek your face, And I have found you. I have spread my bed with tapestry, Colored coverings of Egyptian linen.

I have perfumed my bed With myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. Come, let us take our fill of love until morning; Let us delight ourselves with love.

For my husband is not at home; He has gone on a long journey; He has taken a bag of money with him, And will come home on the appointed day.”

With her enticing speech she caused him to yield, With her flattering lips she seduced him. Immediately he went after her, as an ox goes to the slaughter, Or as a fool to the correction of the stocks,

Till an arrow struck his liver. As a bird hastens to the snare, He did not know it would cost his life.

In this manner, the harlot deceives our soul and pulls us towards worldly pleasures. She will make us do things which does not please God. This is what God is showing us through Joseph as a pattern. Also because of worldly decorations, proud thoughts and fleshly thoughts our soul will turn back away from God. Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters in our spiritual life after we have united in fellowship with Christ we must ensure that we do not fall down from His grace by protecting ourselves. In this manner, when we will seperate ourselves from the spirit of harlotry and live sometimes there may be situations that prevent us from living close to God like the prison experience that came to Joseph. The enemy can give us pressures in our life. But if we make sure that we never change in the truth and never leave the truth God will be with us and just how he lifted up Joseph in his life in our life also God will bless us with many blessings and lift us up. Our soul will escape from the death of hell.

Proverbs 7: 24 - 27 Now therefore, listen to me, my children; Pay attention to the words of my mouth:

Do not let your heart turn aside to her ways, Do not stray into her paths;

For she has cast down many wounded, And all who were slain by her were strong men.

Her house is the way to hell, Descending to the chambers of death.

Therefore my dear brothers and sisters, we must be careful that our soul does not get deceived by always walking in the holy path. May the Lord bless you all.

Let us pray.
